Group Services / Training

Group services can take many forms depending on need. A therapeutic group can be structured or freeform and be tailored for specific issues such as: maladaptive behaviour, anxiety or depression. Alternatively a workshop could provide a one-off training around a certain topic, such as relationships in the workplace.  I am happy to discuss your needs and formulate a group or training that meets your needs. 

Types of groups:

Therapeutic Group: to listen and interact with other group members to find relief from particular symptoms, to bring about change. Therapeutic groups are oriented toward the resolution of pervasive, long-term issues and treat more severe psychological disorders. The interaction between group members are an important part in bringing about change. One of the main advantages of groups like this is that the interaction among members provides a level of support, caring, and confrontation not always found in individual therapy. Like counseling groups, the group leader acts as a facilitator more than a teacher

Counselling Group: group process where there is a focus on the individual problems. These groups focus on interpersonal processes and problem-solving strategies to help people resolve the usual, yet often difficult, problems of living. Group members support and challenge each other in self-exploration. The group leader acts as a facilitator more than a teacher, leading the group through a series of developmental stages.

Guidance or Psychoeducational Group: with a focus of providing information on a particular topic or issue. People that attend psychoeducational groups are often high-functioning but may need help in a certain area, e.g. self esteem or assertiveness. The group leader provides factual information, leads discussions about it, and helps group members incorporate the information into their lives through skill-building exercises.

PAYMENT

Fees are payable by EFTPOS, cash or internet banking on the day of your appointment.  If your agency / workplace is paying for the services, they will be invoiced directly. There is no extra charge if using a debit card, however there is a 3% surcharge on credit cards.

ASSISTANCE

I am also a registered counsellor with  Work and Income (WINZ).   You can check online or with your local WINZ office to find out whether you are eligible for financial assistance through The Disability Allowance from Work and Income . Work and Income (WINZ) subsidises counselling for beneficiaries and low income earners (including NZ Superannuitants and students) through the Disability Allowance. You can receive this Allowance if you meet income criteria and your Doctor agrees that you need counselling. 

CANCELLATION POLICY

If you are unable to make a scheduled appointment, please let me know as soon as possible. 

Cancellations made less than 24 hours before the scheduled appointment, or no-shows will incur the standard session fee.
